As far as I know, none 'disappeared'. I thought I lost some when the hole opened up in the bottom of the crucible but I found it when I cleaned the ashes/coal out of the foundry. I will re-melt it next time.
I melted a few pieces of scrap aluminum that Terrry gave me and about 10 soda/beer cans I grabbed from the neighbors recycling bin. The surface of the can seems to catch fire when you first drop it in. I think this is just the paint burning off. Once you have a pool of metal, the can dissolves almost instantly without any flames to speak of. It is really cool to watch and who doesn't love playing with fire.

So how much loss of metal did you have during the process.
