Bombs Away

I went by Express Oil to have the oil and filter changed in the Charger today. Total miles on the clock: 6171. They even cleaned the bird droppings off the windshield. Nice.

It seems this car is a bird magnet. It has already been targeted more times than the Dodge pickup was in the 8 years I had it.

Birds prefer reds.

I get my zoomzoom's oil changed every 4,000 at my Mazda dealer just because they also wash the thing for me. I'm trying to get them to clean the inside too but they keep saying "Free vacuuming only comes with installing a new muffler, lady!"

You probably don't need a new muffler that often.

What is the freebie when the tires get rotated?

Dang it. I just reallized it is time to rotate the tires. I thought I was all caught up on car maintenance.

Mazda recommends oil changes at 7,500 miles, but I think that is too long, so I split the difference. I change the oil at 3750 (or thereabouts.) While I'm at it I rotate the tires. I put the car up on 4 jack stands and remove the right front wheel first, so I can have easy access to the oil filter. Then while the black oil oozes from the drain hole, I take off the other three tires and rotate them leaving the right front for last. It goes back on after I've put on the new filter and put the drain plug back on.

'Wolfee' (our new Jetta) uses sythetic oil. I believe we get the first oil changed at 5,000 miles and then after that over 10,000 miles. Of course the oil change will cost almost $100.00 Yeah so much for saving.

btw...should I add to my psychology of color #1 post that red gives birds the urge? LMAO. j/k

On my old truck the oil was changed every 4000 miles.

These days with the Miata and the Charger, I usually chnage it closer to 3000 miles. I normally drive less than 10k miles a year. Once you divide that by two cars, that is less than two oil changes per car per year.

When I read Bird Magnet, the thought in my head was: Chick magnet. Oh, you meant Birds that fly.

So Red is a bird magnet?? Kind of makes you want to reconsider the top down action in the Miata....

As a matter of fact, the Miata acquired a big white blotch on the front end just this week.

Fortunately for me, the birds usually aim for the person in the passenger seat.
