I came across this today. It sounds like a pretty interesting challenge. Making fire without matches. Give it a try and let me know how it works out for you. I could use this little trick on my next camping trip.
Actually the whole site is pretty interesting. This guy obviously has a lot of free time.

I made a fire in my back yard fire pit tonight without a match. Of course, I did use a propane torch and a flint striker, so I guess that does not really count.
I also maked fire in my BBQ grill by turning the gas on, OPENING THE LID, and hiting the igniter button. But I guess that would not count either.
Oh well, that was my best effort.
